About
OUR MISSION
Our mission is to create access to food, clothing, and supplies for Bay Area children and families in need.
We believe that children thrive when their basic needs are fulfilled, their lives are stable, and their community is ready to lend a hand.
Our Values
We believe that access to basic necessities is a basic human right. Our actions are guided by the following principles.
Community
We collaborate with community partners to create successful outcomes.
Quality
We provide quality service for our partners from managing donation of items to distribution of goods.
Compassion
We show compassion and respect for whom we serve.
Our Inspiration
NIELSEN TAM
The founding of AGL Foundation was inspired by the work of Alameda community leader Nielsen Tam who was a mentor, facilitator, and played key roles in establishing nonprofits to support children, families, immigrants, and disadvantaged communities. He served on community boards and skillfully brought together diverse voices, actively listened to various viewpoints, and found common points to move issues forward.
A stalwart professional in the Alameda Unified School District, in 2008 Niel was elected as a school board member after serving 39 years as a Special Education instructor and principal. His community service extended to the Alameda Food Bank, the Commission on Disabilities, and many organizations where he worked tirelessly to bring positive change to the community.
Niel Tam’s community work continues through the All Good Living Foundation.
